headers and duals
a lot, mitchell and all data call for 8 hours per side for replacing the manifolds so figure 300 for a set of headers and say the average shop charges 65 dollars an hour so at 16 hours and the price of the headers your at 1340, plus around 400 for an exhaust so theres 1700 and then tax and all that stuff your looking at around $2000
Lol at that rate it'd be less labor to pull the engine to replace the manifolds. It might say 8 hours for both but definitely not each. The issue with doing headers is the exhaust studs. When they break it's a bitch to drill them out, and you can expect at least a couple to break on each side. Shops around here's labor rates are at least $80 but it might be cheaper where you are. You can figure on 10 hours for both sides including broken studs. BBK headers are $350, but I got Pacesetter headers for $208 shipped on Amazon.
For your duals it depends on what you're looking for, true duals or a new X pipe with cats or something will run a whole lot higher than just using a SIDO muffler and dual tailpipes like I did. I did my SIDO with tails exiting in front of the rear passenger wheel for about $250 and an exhaust shop would probably charge $200 to do it is my guess.
Grand total in my opinion should be $1500 or less depending on the labor rates around you. If you're comfortable with drilling out broken bolts then you should do it yourself. 5.4s are a lot tougher to do headers on because there is less room, but getting the studs out is the hard part anyway, after that it's finagling the headers and new bolts in. Then you just have to get an exhaust shop to do your duals.

Actually warranty time for both manifolds is 4.0 hours for 4.6 and only 2.3 for both sides on the 5.4. Double that for non-warranty time and you're at 4.6 hours and add 3 for broken studs and time to fit the larger headers in where the manifolds are slimmer and you have 7.6 hours for both sides. I'd round it up to 8. So that's even 2 hours less than I figured earlier.
You should have more torque from SIDO. Just probably due more back pressure, but that's just what I hear from friends, actual difference in numbers idk. But true duals, gives you better upper end power. I love mine.

Actual numbers are pretty minimal unless you change out the stock y-pipe and cats. Stock cats flow pretty well but you can get x-pipes with high flow cats to replace the stock y-pipe. Also more air going out doesn't help unless you have more air going in so look into doing a Gotts mod if you haven't. You have to get rid of the highest restrictions because adding flow somewhere else in the system wont help.
