The outcome will depend more on what motor you have than the actual headers, but in general headers will add hp and increase the sound of your exhaust.

I put ford racing headers on my 03 screw with a 5.4L when it already had a borla exhaust and it definatly made it louder and i gained about 7hp. the question u have to ask yourself is it worth the money and time if you r going to install them yourself. i would never install headers again. the install is a pain in the ***.

have you done any modifications to your catalytic converters? If you want your truck to be loud, do some work on them. Theres some threads on here about what you can do with them.

I am also looking at some headers, id love some increased horsepower. I have the 5.4
I was lookin at a pair of summit racing ones for around 150...

before u do any work to your cats check into your local laws in some states it is illegal to remove any cats. also remember that you get what you pay for. if you buy $150 headers they might not have the same quality as something that runs $500

headers are made for more air flow out of the engine. unless you have true dual straights an x pipe with no cats and no mufflers then you probably dont need headers. if you let too much air out of your engine it will make you in a sense lose torque. now you dont actually lose it it just moves to a lower rpm and if it goes too low then you basically lose all your torque because it is in a range that you go above very easily. the setup previously stated in my post will probably be more than open enough to make you lose most of the back pressure youd need. headers are more for people that A.want to let more air out and still have it relatively quiet whereas if you like loud you can remove the cats and mufflers and let out even more air than the headers would ever let out. or B. have a big engine pushin so much horsepower they need to let out as much air as possible. that being said you have a few options that are cheaper than headers
