Default head swap

What would be the better option in hp gains for a 2000 f150 4.6l. A pi head swap or just getting the stock ones port and polished

Non pi heads port and pollished will flow about the same as pi heads that aren't ported. Why don't you get a set of pi heads and port and pollish them before installing them?

Do the best of both worlds, Get the PI heads from a junkyard, have them port and polished and slap them on. heads are usually pretty cheap from a Junk Yard. Make sure you grab the Intake Mani as well.

you are wasting money on heads, your looking at about 30whp gain with ported heads/cams. You are better off saving your money for a blower or turbo if you are looking at HP gain per dollar ratio.

You're talking 5 grand for 130 horsepower out of a PS1 and 2 grand for closer to 60 horsepower for ported and rebuilt heads with oversize valves and comp cams and springs. You get 30 hp just from a pi swap with stock pi cams. So really it's basically the same hp per $, actually a little more on just a P&P/cam job. It comes down to what you've got to spend.

stage I from fox lake are $2000 and stage II are $2400 P&P assembled with cams.
