Default head lights

I have a 1999 f150 xlt. The other day I got in it and turned on the head lights only the passenger light came on, the high beam indicator on the dash was on but the high beams were not on. After a while the driver side light came on and the indicator on the dash shut off. Has any one else had this problem, or does any one know what the problem could be?

what happens when you turn the high beams on? have you tried just changing the bulb? the filament could be broken & touching the high beam filament. if someone is close to you or you have another vehicle that has the same bulb type, try swapping it.

well he just replaced his, because his melted on the passenger side. And now, he has these high output lights, not HIDs, but the drivers side is dimmer than the passenger. And when he turns his brights on, the drivers side goes dim. Not out but dim. And the High beams indidcator light is always on. I will have him check the bulbs. Is is possible that he criss-crossed the wires on the drivers side when he put the new plugs on?

Default dim light

sounds like a ground problem... if he just changed the plug try and wiggle the ground wire while the light is on. if it flashes it's the ground... the bad ground might be making the indicator come on so that you know there is a problem.... sorta like the blinkers flashing weird when you have a bulb out.

cole ford

I agree does sound like a ground problem, if he cut all three wires at the same time when he put in the new socketts then he might have the wires crossed, but I would start with the grounds.
