HALO Headlights????????
i just bought a set of smoke projector/halo style headlights for my 2000 f150 and have noticed that a lot of people are saying they were a pain to install. can anyone tell me what is involved to install them?
thanks Mitch

Those are the exact same ones i have, and yes, they are a pain in the *** to install.
I'm going to give you a tip from the get-go. The housing basically sits on 3 long bolts with rubber ends that adjust the depth of the headlamp assembly within the truck. The screws are a part of the headlamp assembly, the same as they are a part of the OEM assembly that you'll be removing.
Once you remove the headlamps, look at where the mounting bolts slide in. You're aiming for small holes that the plastic end piece will poke through so you can bring down the assembly clamp to hold them in place.
This is the part that hung me up and made the install difficult. While the bolts are supposed to slide into their mounting holes easily, the headlamp is a very tight fit. Look at the bolt and look where it connects to the headlamp. There should be a black clip that the bolt protrudes from. This clip acts as a sort of channel that is supposed to guide the lamp in. Well... on mine, the channel didnt really work as it was planned. I couldnt get the headlamp into the housing far enough because the clamp was too large.
Cut off the raised fins on on the truck that the headlamp clips ride on.
I know you're going to think, "But that would be harming the truck." Well... you're right. However, the headlamp assembly fits in there so tight, and are kept in place with such a hardcore slide lock, that they'll never come out.
You can try to install them with the channel intact, but i couldnt get them in no matter what i did. I used a cut-off wheel on the truck taking off the fins and installed the headlamps with no fuss.

You can get them to sit flush if you work on it. I had to dial the mounting feet quite a ways in to make them sit right.
