Guess that wire game!
so I was underneath the bed of my truck replacing my license plate lights with LEDs and noticed this wire was cut and I don't know where it's suppose to go to an there isnt one on the they side I checked. i would like to know what it goes to. in the pics I am on my back laying parallel with the rear axel with my head to the driver side and my feet by the passenger side. to the left is my spare tire and the right is my trailer hitch. thanks for the help guys
I have little experience with wiring but if you arent the original owner it could be possible that a previous owner had a cap on it and thats the wire that would have ran to the brake light on the cap. Just kinda throwing out an idea. Hopefully somebody with alot more knowledge can give you a better answer.
There's only one way to "buzz" this out. Have someone step on the brake, and check from what looks like a green wire (whatever color it is - except brown or black, which is usually a ground wire) and check for 12V with a voltmeter. If nothing, try the parking lights, and even the reverse. Since it's running near the hitch, it looks like it'd be for brake, but you need another for turn signal. Is this a single wire only, or is there another under that taped loom? BTW, I LED'ed my license plate lights too.

it's in the same thing as the parking brake line. it seems to be stock whatever it is and just snipped. thanks for all input. I know it's not the reverse lights those work for sure and so do my brake lights. it may be hooked to the trailer hitch havnt tested it out yet
I'm not normally in the habit of answering 4+ year-old threads, but I was looking for the answer to this question, too. Not finding an one, I pulled out my DMM, and determined this is a ground wire. Why it's just dangling there, who knows?
