Default Guages

I have another quick question. Ever since P purchased my truck few months ago I have noticed that when I start up the truck all the guages ( ie Speadometer, gas, Bat, Temp, Oil Pressure guages) flutter. Meaning they go from 0 to max then back down to normal positions. Is this normal? and if Not what is causing it. I have read that in some models this is caused by bad battery. Which i have had no problems with. I have also read where some have replaced there alternator and this stoped this. I have read from others in some models this i system diagnstic and is supose to happen. By the way I have a 2003 Super Crew 4.6 Tritan.

The only time I have noticed my truck doing that was after I changed my alternator, maybe because the battery was disconnected for a certain amount of time. When quickly disconnecting the battery and reconnecting it does not do it.

OK thanks. That what I figured it was a calibration thing. I read on one site that on the new models Like 2010 and newer that its part of the computer calibration. then read on other post that it was due to bad bat. Can't realy get a definate answer. Once guy said his stoped after he replaced the bat. and other said it stoped when he replaced the altinator. Thanks again.

My 03 supercab 4.6 only did it once when my battery was too low to start the truck bc me and my brother were installing some speakers and we left the key turned forward too long without starting the truck. that's the only time my truck has ever done that. We let a battery charger sit on it for awhile and my gauges never have done it since.
