Wink Gott's Mod Alternative

(Photos are at the 4th and 5th post)

Today I've something done on my truck.

I've cleaned the MAF Sensor,
and by the way, i was thinking how can i make the Inlet wider !!

Then i became enlighten.

I took a conical thread spool, and pressed it into the inlet piece (in direction of Air flow)
while I warmed the inlet piece with the hot air gun.

!! Wear Gloves !!
(a conical piece of metal, would be much more better)

make sure that you heat the narrowest area first and more than the wider area. To prevent wrinkling.

After that, i removed the cone and heated the edge until it softens.
then i 'pressed the whole inlet piece against a Flat Surface to clap the edge smooth outward. (for smooth airflow, which will be much smoother, when u put a slotted Tube around it, to make the Edge Round, but this is another story)

So the result is a Wider Inlet, but not as wide as the Gott's Mod, (but wider than normal.
its about 1cm wider in diameter now

SO if you have not the Material at home, u can try this, to make breathing easier.

i have done this in 20 minutes incl. installing the whole Filter stuff.

Lightbulb Fotos

the Beast

Air Filter Housing

Open it, and unscrew the clamp
take this Part with MAF sensor away. (don't hurt the Wires)

to remove the filter Housing, lift it at the larger diameter, to clip it out of the rubber things, and then Pull it out.

Inlet Piece to modify
just pull it out

Thats it, (i've widen it yesterday, a little)
today, we try to widen it more

other Perspective

my special tool

wrap it with Alu-Tape, (begin at the bigger end to wrap, because the Tape edges)

Push the Inlet on the cone and
heat the inlet 1-3 minutes while turning steady (it gets shiny when its hot and soft)

Then Push / repeat this until u r happy

After that, let it cool down, time for coffee, beer or cigarette

After the second try, the Inlet is as wide, that not enough material left to form a smooth hopper, and i had no desire to form one.
Then i have cleaned the Edge with a file and scotch bright (not shown here)

I don't know the diameter before, but now the inner Diameter is 6,5cm / 2.56 inches

please let me know how wide it is from stock
then we can calculate how wider the area is
(sorry for my english)
German would be much better for a world language

sure, nearly.
because the Gotts mod Inlet is a little bit wider in diameter than after this mod.

But its on you, how big you chose the cone.
its possible to widen it more.
but be careful, it can rip, by to much force or to less heat, or to fast pushing.

Remember, please measure your inlet before modifying,
i want to know the stock value, I've forgotten to measure it.
