Default silencer location

Bringing this thread back from the dead. Been reading a little about the mod and thinking I will attempt it today. My question is since I bought the truck yesterday (06 5.4l) i haven't really fooled around under the hood of it yet. This silencer that people talk about, is it on the cold side of the intake piping near the fender or is it located after the filter? Just wondering if I have to take out the whole air box to access it or just remove the cover as if I were changing out the filter. Thanks for any imput.

I'm gonna do this this weekend. I'm also curious about the silencer mod. Where and how did you did that one?

You dont have to let it idle, its not learning anything if it sits there for 10 min other than 1 event. You need to take it and drive it around for a little bit to properly let the PCM see enough events. Its not really a big deal either way, your KAM will still adjust accordingly. Just do it and take a trip to the supermarket or something and that will be fine.

So for those of you who have done it, how are your results? Is it super noticeable, I mean you know your truck pretty well so could you notice a significant difference? and how about MPG?

i definitely felt a difference at WOT. conservative driving i did not really feel a difference, hill climbing in final gear did seem to improve, not down shifting as much. as far as MPG, not sure how much it helped. maybe a .5 mpg increase but every little bit helps haha.

for 10 bucks and 15 minutes i would definitely recommend it

Its honestly not noticeable.. its the same thing as adding a cold air intake pretty much. You do get some power, but a few hp is not noticeable on a 2+ ton block of steel.. lets be honest.

I think people get the placebo effect because you can hear the intake a little more because...you removed the silencer lol.

Worth the 15 bucks, sure is, but I wouldnt say its a mod you notice.

This should work on a 4.2 v6 right? It looks the exact same as my truck. Just want to make sure.
And where I can I find the info on the silencer mod?
