Default Good idea or bad?

haha just ran across this on ebay. Doesn't seem like it would be getting a whole lot of cold air right there. And No, I do not intend on buying this.
Just curious what you guys thought about it.

That's not a cold air intake. A cold air intake seals with the hood and as a metal part, usually blocking off engine heat. All that filter is going to do is bring the heat off your radiator, engine, and intake manifold possibly decreasing performance. That filter is useless unless you have a 75+mm throttle body.

The factory intake pulls in cooler air than that.
That filter intake is in the engine bay, yes it is blocked off some from the engine, but the OEM pulls air from the fender, outside the engine compartment completely.

To the OP, that thing is pointless by itself.

Exactly. A K&N drop-in with the gotts mod delivers more "cold" air that than kit and at a fraction of the price.

I'd never use a oiled air filter in these trucks. I use a Afe dry drop in.

Yep. I've read they gunk up MAF sensors all the time, and those are not cheap.

Default K&N

I've got the exact same setup in my truck-cold air intake. You saying that it's not pulling in cold air is rubbish, it totally does! My truck runs wayyy better with the K&N, and I've never had a problem with oil or gunk getting on the MAF. This is the 3rd vehicle I've owned with the K&N kit and I've never had any problems with any of them with the kit installed, they've run much better because of them. Nice scare tactics though

Hmmm may be Abe to modify a hood hood with a small scoop and add an air box that would create a true cai
