Default Is this a good deal?

Looking for a truck that I can pick up stuff for home projects and possibly take hunting/fishing. I would probably only put 1000 miles on it a year tops.

A guy down the street from me put up a for sale sign on his 2001 F150, now I have seen him drive it and it its appears to be running good.
Listed Specs:
2001 F150 (Base Model XL)
4x4
Automatic
6 Cylinder
Clean title (for what its worth)
230,000 miles
Asking Price: $2250

The body and interior looks really clean for its age, tires look good. No under body rust issues.

All in all visually its a good looking rig.

My issue is that it has 230,000 miles. That seems like pretty high millage, but maybe its not as bad as one would think for the motor/tranny combo.

What do you guys think, based on the specs is it worth looking more into? Anything I should be on the lookout for?

I don't think that is a bad price and if he is asking that maybe you can get him down to $2000.

Ask him about what maintenance he has performed. If the truck was treated right it will last a long time.

Yeah, price seems fair for my area. If that is his asking price, his bottom price is probably 2k, so start out with maybe 1750, or 1800 as an offer.

If it has been well maintained and not abused, then the mileage shouldn't be much of a concern. On the other hand, that high mileage could be a good bargaining tool. Offer him $1500 and go from there, and as long as you get it for under $2k, I would say you got a good deal.
