what are the realistic gains from going from 3.55 to 4.11. 35 inch tires on 20 inch rims, tires/wheel weigh about 80 lbs each. As it is right now im getting 10 miles to the gallon. Mainly wanted the power back and a lil better MPG's

 

I'll put it this way, I had 3.31's and 33's I was getting roughly 10-11 mpg. I swapped to 4.10's and it put me back up to around 14, if I keep my foot out of it. My tires alone are 56 lbs. a piece.

 

So how's the top end with the 4:10s and 33"s?

 

I'm running around 3 grand at 80-85 mph, which i rarely do. Around 2500 to 2700 rpms at 70-75. I've got the 4.6, And the gear swap was by far the best mod I've done to the truck. Definitely the best bang for the buck.

 

So trying to accelerate past 60 is a slug?

 

Oh shoot no! I can go 60 to 85 real quick, just don't like running that high of rpms around 85 and up, which is just me. Lol I haven't done any track time or had it on the Dyno yet, so unfortunately I don't have any real numbers to give ya. My opinion on it, if you're thinking about swapping gears and have the funds or the know how, DO IT! You won't regret it.

 

Yeah I don't like high rpm either. I think I'm gonna go with 4:10s

No problem at all, hoss! I went with Ford racing. I looked into Yukons, but I don't off road often or heavily. I had also talked to a couple mustang guys that drag race, they said they were good. I haven't had one problem.
