I'am having strange problems with my 1999 F150 XLT 2wd, 5.4 motor, with 210,000 miles on it. Battery will go dead in about 8 hrs just setting sometimes. Wiper's not working sometimes, odometer going nuts. The last time I drove the truck, it sounded like the starter was try to engage in park and neutral with truck running.
first thing that jumped into my mind is a weak/broken ground, would cause the battery to die and causing stress on the alternator trying to charge it could cause gauge sweeps and strange problems? Not too sure, but definitely check the GEM for water damage, should be relatively easy to narrow down this problem. I'm sure someone can correct me or add to what i said but thats just my input.
ok so I have same problem with my 98 f150 XLT 5.4. Power windows do not work. now how do we get at the GEM. Some got a link to a video or pages out of a ford truck book ?
