It is a rubber hose that comes off the rear diff and goes upward and it's towards the top if that helps any and I'd check it because I learned the hard way

Just old or to short and All you need to do is get some hose that is the same size and replace it and I recommend making it longer and I'd check your rear diff oil to make sure that it's not milky

If the oil has a weird color or water in it can destroy your spider gears and it happens to me

Default truck check over

For your transmission, one check is to smell the oil. It should smell fresh and clean. Any notion of a burned smell, have it changed and a new filter, etc.
The smell of transmission oil is a legitimate check on oil condition.

Oh boy i made a mistake. I bought a 98 f150 w 175000 and I had a friend of mine (not a mechanic) with me, when i got home i noticed i was a bit low on oil so I asked him to put a quart or 2 in while i went into the house for a sec. He said it was a quart and a half low. No problem until a week later when I took out the trash and noticed he had used a couple of old bottles of old 10w40 i had left and not the 5w30 i had pointed to. I have already driven a good bit. and i am going to change the oil right away but will this cause me problems later or is there anything i should be worried about in the near future?

Oil doesn't really "wear" out - it just lubricates less over time. And in hot weather, the 10w40 won't hurt. I love the Lucas Oil Stabilizer. 137K and I don't burn any oil, so it must be doing a good job!
