Are you on stock tires? I assume you used motorcraft plugs and are calculating that mileage by hand. Start going through the list of maintenance if it hasn't been done: fuel filter, O2 sensors, clean MAF, clean throttle body, new air filter, new transmission fluid, new differential oil, and new pcv valve. After maintenance and mileage has not improved, then start looking towards the whether the cats are plugged, compression test, etc.

I did the gotts mod, changed oil and trans fluid. That brought my mpgs from 8 to 10. Thinking after I do the rest I'll be getting around 15....i hope

I think this is post number one million on gas mileage.
TRUCKS GET LOW GAS MILEAGE BECAUSE THEY ARE TRUCKS.
Except of course the Ford hydraulic hybrid F250 that gets 65MPG in the city but for some odd reason Ford won't build it for everyone even though they have had it for almost three years now.
Gee, I wonder why?
No, those investments from the big oil companies in Ford have nothing to do with it.

Try some seafoam, cleaning your air sensors in the intake, and also try some electrical contact cleaner on all the contacts you can safely pull apart under the hood

I have an 2001 f150 with 5.4v8. I changed my plugs, ignition coil boots, iac, iat, MAF sensor, egr valve, pcv, vacuum lines, throttle position sensor. I am getting better fuel mileage now more than 15. I also changed my fuel filter and fuel pump went out. I have stock tires.
