Gas??
ok so here's the deal every gas station around me puts in 10% ethanol in their gas execpt fleet farm but does anyone know how good fleet farm gas really is?? I tried looking online but just run into dead ends so thought someone on here might know some helpful insider information? If you do let me know thanks. I know this Q may seem werid but i drive 20 miles to work everyday and would like to find out who really gives you the best bang for your buck! And does anyone know if you can run E85 in a 1997 4.6L triton or does anyone want to be the first to try it LMAO i wont be held responsible for trucks not starting but let me know! Thanks guys!
Well, I live in Alaska and we don't have fleet farms up here so I couldn't tell you. I can tell you that I wouldn't put Tesoro fuel in my truck. I personally fill up at Holiday (not sure where they're all located). Shell and Chevron both sell good fuel too. The biggest problem up here is the quality of diesel fuel in the winter. The gas stations have to sell #1 diesel because #2 diesel will gell up if it gets too much below freezing and up on the slope I've even seen #1 diesel gel. Trucks don't like #1 diesel nearly as much as they like #2. I'm sure they put other things like ethanol in our fuel too, but I'm not too sure about it.
As far as Fleet Farm gas i have no idea. I have heard bad things about gas with ethanol mixed such as burning up plugs and eating up fuel pumps. I don't know if those are myth or true but if anyone here knows truth or not let me know. Ether way i stay away from it.
A co-worker of mine has a Dodge 1 ton diesel and he said that it went through a fuel pump in about 20,000 miles because of the fuel we have here (at least that's what Dodge is claiming). They took his fuel tank off and found all kinds of nasty corrosion and garbage in it so now he runs some special additive in it that they recommended, but I'm not sure what it is. I'll have to ask him.
i heard that the ethanol is bad for your motor and where i live all the mobile, shell, and BP use up to 10% ethanol in there gas. For some reason Fleet Farm is the only one that dosent. Hopefully someone knows something about Fleet Farm Gas. And i did notice that when every gas station went to use the 10% ethanol that im down to 10 - 11 MPG yes i know the winter makes you use more gas but ive never seen a drop in MPG this much. Before this happend id at least get 12 around city. And i have K&N air fliter too which dosent make a huge difference but does help alittle. I just wish they wouldnt put this crap in are gas. Im thinking about just putting in Top Grade because its the only one that dosent have the 10% but i really dont need a 91 octane rating. So dont know if it will just burn faster and id lose more MPG? Im confused!
