Future project selectable lockers
I'm looking into selectable lockers for my 98 f150 xlt 4x4. I have the 8.8 31 spline rear. So ABR will work? How about the front? I don't have a clue on whats up there and what will work.. Any input will be much appreciated!

Sounds like you have a 4.6L but if you swap in a 9.75 out of a 5.4L truck you can get what you want. I had a Detroit TruTrac carrier put in and was cautioned o just leave the front end open. Love it. Great in the snow or dry.

I think u would be happier with the tornsen gear differential like mine since it is so smooth in its operation. It is superior to the stocker so there's traction always. You may want to change to a 9.75 since it is stronger. Sall the people who make them and places that install them to see what they say.

Yep even my 5.4L has an 8.8 in the front and it is a reverse cut gearing since it spins backwards. I left the differential stock and it works great. Another thing is what will all this be used for? Are you trying to do rock crawling or mud trails, etc?

Mudding and trails. Not planning on rock crawling. Been thinkin bout it and i don't see much off camber stuff so I'm lean more towards limited slips now

That TruTrac being a tornsen design puts the power where the traction is and works great. The stock L/S used to chatter and jump now turns are smooth.

I'm 100% with KABOOM. I've got alot of posts on here about the True-Trac. Look 'em up. I installed one in my '08, and MANY in other F150-250-350's. Best all-around unit IMO.
Also, you can use them in the front in conjunction with one in the rear. Inititially, I was cautioned about that too, but being a hard head, I had to try it, and I'm not sorry. It won't have any ill-effects, except in snow. You won't have at least one "dead" wheel keeping the truck straight under acceleration. Everything will turn.
Just remember your front axle is a 28 spline 8.8 when ordering parts.
