Default Fuel pump specific to bed lenght

Well I can't seem to edit it to change my spelling??

Anyway, I need a new fuel pump for my 2001 F150 4.6 4x4 2 door.

However, the ones that I can find online for that year all seem to say with 8ft bed.....which mine isn't.

Is the fuel pump not the same regardless of the length of the bed?

Thanks

It would seem not (I just went through this) but I saw 120" and 139" WB as the designator - not bed length.

Yep there's several different tank configurations and different fuel pumps to go with them

You always have the option to replace just the pump/ motor and not the whole sender too.

I've done just the motor /pump on a bunch of vehicles but did the whole unit on my F-150. Can't say that I've ever had a problem regardless. When I replaced one on a Z71 the wire connection to the motor was made with just a little brass nut on a post .... I really really worried about that.... So I added a lock ring and also a double nut. It was fine

Rock Auto have clearer details on fitment but the shipping is now more than the actual fuel pump itself and I get charged import duty and vat on the whole amount Inc shipping.

The sellers on eBay list them as compatible with bed lengths....most being 8' as I said.

I will just email them and see if they can confirm whether they will fit or not.

It's a 120" 4x4 single cab that I have.

Thanks.

They will all work if you don't care about your fuel gauge being correct...

Or you can switch your float arm most likely from the sender on the old gauge to the new one. As long as the insertion length is correct... And if the tanks aren't the same height it might not be

If your sender works, I'd just get a Carter pump and replace the pump only.

Thanks for all the help

I'm going to take the pump assembly out and then see if the local motor factors has an equivalent ford or otherwise pump and try and replace just that, if not I'll order one from the US.

I've also decided to take the whole rear bed off so I'll need to grind off the welds someone made as well.

Well that was a total pain to take off.....if its not the fuel tank after all that I'm going to have a massive tantrum

5 out of the 6 bolts holding the bed on were seized....ground them off. The 6th one wasn't seized as it wasn't there....instead they had welded the bed to the chassis rails Inc drilling some additional holes and plug welding them...cutting disc....grinder....recip saw and then big hammer and cold chisel to get that off.

Had to remove the filler cap for the lpg system and of course the 100 odd litre tanks were full....so they needed to be drained.

Wiring......massive birds nest of wires all over the place...wires for the tow bar going everywhere for feeds....got fed up at that point and just cut them all....I'll rewire it properly before I put the bed back on.

So after all that fun the good news is that there is a live feed to the plug that the wiring harness from the pump assembly plugs into....in fact two of the four seem to be live so it does look like it's the pump rather than any fuses or relays under the hood that is causing the problem.

I'm going to remove the assembly and then take the pump out and see if the local motor factors have an equivalent pump ...if not I'll just need to wait for one to arrive from the US.
