Default Front Wheel drive Question

Hello all,
Newbie to this forum here. I have a 2001 F150 King Ranch 5.7L 4X4 217, 000 miles.
My question is... I had to rebuild drivers side cv joint and upper an lower ball joints after the lower ball joint sheared off.
8 months later I rebuild front brakes and rotors and noticed that the drivers side CV joint where it bolts onto the transfer case has got serious wobble in it.
Is it time for a new transfer case or is there a rebuild just for that flange? Of course all this happens on a Holiday weekend and all my usual guys are on holiday.
Thanks for your feedback
Jack

The CV axle does not bolt onto the transfer case. It bolts to the front differential. Generally, unless there is some major issues with the front diff, your CV axle is going to be the culprit. Can you be more specific about the exact location of the wobble. A short video of what you are seeing would help a lot.

Holy $4it.... I wouldn't think of rebuilding that. That is your differential, and it is broken inside. You can buy a whole diff for 100-150 dollars at a wrecking yard. Just need to be sure you get the right gear ratio. And honestly, it is very easy to replace. Just remove both CV axles, the front drive shaft, and 3 bolts hold it in.

@Jbrew @akdoggie Check that video out in post #3.

Yeah, That's kinda what I thought. Thanks for your input White. This is my first 4wd truck so not used to some of the sounds it makes. Def not like a 2wd.
Can this be done in the driveway and do I need a trany jack?

that is really messed up. I'd do like White suggested, just drop the driveline, cv's and the 3 mounting bolts and swap that thing out for another. It would be hours quicker and much cheaper

You have a 3.55 which is the most common and easiest to find. That's the good news.
