Default Front Suspension

after replacing my front right tire the mechanic tells me that my tie rod ends are shot he can wiggle both tires with no problem. So i tell him to replace just that one tire as that tire was fully worn out from the outside the inside was still looked new. ive been looking around and the cheapest I can find the tie rods are for 140 for both sides has anyone just replaced the bushings? and how hard is it to replace these things?

It's actually a very simple fix. It would probably take you about a hour and a half. http://www.partsgeek.com/gbproducts/...ek+Google+Base

If i'm correct you can't replace the bushings on the tie rods, you have to get the whole tie rod (on this specific truck), you can only do that on the lower control arm

Depending on the miles on your truck, you may want to check everything. I went in for a simple hub and brake swap and needed to replace: inner/outer tie rod ends, idler arm and lower ball joints. So while I was at it, I replaced both hubs (needed just one because the sensor was bad and it was cheaper to buy the whole unit), pitman arm (not needed, but I was there), backing plates (rusted) and CV to steering knuckle seal (worn out).

All done at 121k miles.

How much did that cost you. Im planning to do all the work myself then just take in for an alignment. I know both inner/outter tie rods are bad and the idler arm still need to check on everything else.
