Default Front Cats Rattle!!!

So I took my truck to the tranny shop and had the tranny rebuilt, well I guess while they were putting it in or taking it out they hit the passenger side front catalytic converter, because now it rattles like crazy, and it is definitely noticeable when driving or just when you tap it with a hammer.
How should I go about fixing the problem?? Any solution without having to remove the cat or replace it????

Is it the cat insides or the heat shield? If its the heat shield just tear it off. If its the cat internals youre gonna have to get it replaced. What engine do you have?

I have the 5.4l engine, It's inside the cat, I really don't want to replace it, it's like 150 for a new cat plus labor for installation.

Unfortunately replacing it or removing it are your only options. If you live in a state with emission testing youre left with replacing it. Some people hollow theirs out but then youll throw codes too. With them being loose inside they'll eventually clog and wreak havoc on your power and mpgs. Call the trans shop and ask them about it. If they damaged your truck, especially something like your cats, they should be liable. However having them come through on it will be unlikey. But still call and ask. The worse they can say is no. Maybe you can work out a deal with them. If they install it maybe you pay say half parts and half labor. Its worth a shot. especially if its a shop youve used alot

I don't know if it is good or not for the cats but i guess at this point you have nothingto lose. I saw a bunch of video of this guys and i would say he's a ''good'' mechanics...

His cats arent dirty though. Theyre broken. The broken material can clog his back cats too.

If you dont have a problem removing cats id just cut it off, take it to a shop and have them run some pipe with an o2 bung in it and use the gotts o2 mod to prevent codes. Cheapest and easiest fix
