Fluids Change
Brands do matter. Obviously stay away from Lucas and Royal Purple. Lucas Oil Stabilizer has no additives nor quality base oil, just greasy slop in a $15 bottle.

Mobil 1 GL-5 for gear oil and PZ Synchromesh for GL-4 Manual Trans Fluid.
MaxLife ATF or Mobil 1 ATF. Don't use high miles ATF in the power steering fluid, it's not great for the seals. Any synth spec ATF will do; Merc V, Dexron 6, ATF +4, old stock of Mobil 1 Dex III, even "Multi" universal ATF...just not hi-miles or cheap Dex III stuff. Name brand Dex/Merc from a new supplier is ok for flushing $16/g for Castrol on Amazon. The Supertech spec ATFs at WalMart are great and dirt cheap, I might go that route.

Beware of off-brand lubes...

Engine and rear diff are done. Going to let rtv cure overnight until I fill her up. Transmission actually looks easy after I l looked at it. I think I saw a tech article on doing the transmission, I'll have to find it.
When looking I figured I should do transfer case and front diff. Transfer case has an easy access drain and fill plug. What fluid, how much? I found the drain plug on my front diff I will have to search for the fill plug. Seems easy after shield is taken off.

With esof, your left front axle is always turning, which spins the spiders. If you had locking hubs...it wouldnt. Mileage drag for convenience sake. Personally, I never minded either manual or auto hubs on vehicles that had them.
