Default Flowmaster and Turndown?

My OE muffler has finally rotted away from its hangers (great NE winters) and am most likely going to throw a flowmaster 40 on. This will be all stock except for the new muffler and was wondering if it would be a good idea to do turndowns right after the muffler. Keep in mind that I'm trying to keep this as cheap as possible and thanks for any input.

Your about to start a debate and a flame war. Haha many users on here do not like flowmasters for different reasons. I have a 40 on my truck minus some piping and I have a tip on it. Its loud enough for my tastes considering all my previous rides were straight piped and I got over it by time I got my truck. If you turn it down after the muffler that will be fine but IMO if your gonna do that, maybe just delete some pipe, move the muffler back a titch and do a side exit before the rear tire. It will be louder and look unique

Good idea for what? More drone? Yes.

Not many people do turn downs. Plus how goofy will it look in the winter?

Thrush weld series muffler. Nothing out. Cheap, but quite a bit of noise in the cab

I did the exact setup you described on a long travel pre-runner Dodge Dakota I built a while back. Be prepared for some serious drone and in-cab noise if it is your daily driver.

Ya I was thinking about the exit before the rear tire. Probably gonna do a little more research but thanks for the input.

It's not that bad at all with cats, my mud terrains pretty much drown the drone out.

I just took my muffler off and put a turndown right at the y pipe under the front passenger door. I don't think it's really that loud (but when I nail it some heads look my direction). Lots of vibration though which is really annoying. Cost my $6.
