Default fix it or replace it?

so my truck currently is leaking coolant around passanger side notice that it seems to be a freeze plug and just my luck its the one behind the engine mount. truck has 135k miles now im a little mechanically incline but nothing major. so my question is would u have it fixed or replace the engine or just sell the truck as is. this is my first vehicle i bought it with 117k had it for over two years. i done mostly everything on this truck my self.

I have never come out ahead when I sell a truck instead of just fixing the problem unless you are putting some cash with it and upgrading. If the truck is working for you and you like it, I would fix it. At least you know what you have. Unless you have other problems or think there might be soon. Dropping a lot of cash on maintenance and repairs doesn't increase the value it just costs money. Have you tried just filling the hole with rtv silicone? I dont know how long it would last but it might fix the problem altogether. There wouldn't be a lot of pressure on it but you could also use jb weld if it would make you feel better. I know if you're gonna do something do it right, but there's not much risk or time involved in just covering it in silicone. Replacing the motor is up to you if you wanna spend the money. Again, doesn't really add value..

that truck must have had very poor maintenance before your purchased it, you shouldnt have those problems if you flush your coolant regulary. i have never done the freeze plug but i do know its a bitch, ive heard some drop the transmission to get to it.

anyways the trucks should easily do 200,000 personally i beleive 300,000 is an easy mark if you keep up with it, but if you like the truck and think it will be around for a min. of 5 more years then yes fix it, but if your gonna sell it in the next few years it would have been a waste of money.

if it wass my truck ! i would defintley fix it

support the motor with a floor jack...un-bolt the motor mount from the motor and the frame...knock out the old freeze plug and replace...echo above...anti-freeze and proper cooling system maint does wonders.

thanks for the feed back i'll try to put some silicone but it doesnt loose much coolant i would say it would leak maybe a quater of a gallon a month. but i hopefully plan on purchasing a new truck within a year or two so for now this truck better last. i always do the maintenance reguraly. i dont think my truck has been in the shop for over a year except for the recall on gas straps
