Default Whats running hot?

I was pull a pretty good load the other day (4 horses and stock trailer) and my edge was says it was 212 with efan on. So I was thinking, what is over heating for these trucks? I do this pretty often during the summer and this was the first time since installing Efans.

My truck ran between 205 and 210 with the stock fan. So you should be fine with that.

I wouldn't say that 212 is overheating, its on the hotter side, but its not worry some, especially considering the load it was under at the time, especially if you have a smaller motor.

I agree that this is not real hot. Has your cooling system been flushed lately? Have seen too many instances of cooling system problems from old fluids and I over worry about it so I am sorry if I suggest it when you are a stickler for keeping up with your truck maintenance.

Yes the cooling system has been flushed recently. I was pulling some hills during the time it rose to that temp. What would you say hot is?

If you are running a 50/50 mix in the cooling system and a good 16LB pressure cap any temp below the point you start to lose coolant is ok I have seen 230 with no proplems so long as the temp goes down when you stop working it s hard. I would worry more about trans temp especialy if you dont have a aux. trans cooler

I have the factory trans cooler and the trans didn't get that hot that day but it wasn't a far distance. Now I have seen my trans up around 200 pulling the trailer with 2 horses a pretty good distance.
