A few trouble codes
Hi everyone, been trolling this site for a while, so I finally signed up. I have a 2001 150, 4.6 with some codes. P1151, P0155, and P0401 and have done some research on them but seems to be several possibilities of the causes. Don't really want to buy parts that are not the cause. What do you guys suggest I try first. I suspect 2 or more codes are related but not sure. Any help is appreciated.
p0401 is almost always clogged egr ports in the plenum. The ports are right behind the throttle body and lead all the way out to the egr valve.
p1151, which is bank 2 sensor 1 switching slowly-lean condition usually means the sensor is bad
p0155 is bank 2 sensor 1 heater circuit malfunction which either means the heater power wiring to the ho2 sensor is bad or the sensor is bad.
Basically replace both front o2 sensors because they're probably old anyway.

Thanks Austin, I will give that a try, and yes, they are original parts. It was my old work truck that I bought from work when I got a new one for a extra truck to have around. It's got 260,000 k on it and just about all original parts except for a new diff.
Yeah it's definitely your egr ports then. And most likely the o2 sensor. Like I said replace both of the front ones.
Pull the throttle body off and take the plenum it's bolted to off as well. To get the plenum off you have to take the egr valve loose, be careful with the two bolts that hold it on, they get rusty and you have to work them out and in and out sometimes or they'll break. Once you get the valve off take the plenum bolts out and cover the opening in the intake with a clean rag while you're cleaning the egr ports. You'll probably need 2 cans of carb cleaner and at least a real long pick in order to get all the carbon out. It's better to have an assortment of picks. Let the carb cleaner soak for a minute and then chip away at carbon, then let it soak then chip away and so on until the ports are all clean. Clean the throttle body and throttle plate all nice and shiny while you're at it. A lot of times the paper gaskets between the intake and plenum and plenum and throttle body get messed up when you take them off, they're cheap so just get new ones and use the carb cleaner and a razor blade to get the old ones off. Be careful, a razor blade will mar up aluminum pretty easily.

I wouldn't. It's the kind of thing that you want to be good quality. I would say get motorcraft or maybe someone will chime in on a good brand they've used. I've only used motorcraft. I want to say Bosch makes decent o2 sensors but I'm not sure.

I had read that Bosch was actually the inventor of them but who knows. The Motorcraft were most expensive on Ebay but I suppose there is a reason. I would imagine they would plug right in though. Sorry for the questions but I rarely have trouble with the Fords !!!
