That head is the same as the one that Tav has in his Super Duty. Note how the back is big and square? That means the dash has to be trimmed to fit this unit. Our use an angled head, that is not square at the back. Our has a big cut out to fit the dash configuration.
99-03 have the same 2 flat connectors with the grey and black plugs. The Premium sound has a black plug with all the other wiring for amp/speakers etc.
Well, I may just be adding to the confusion factor, but here are pics of my '03 unit. Full-size, and *not* the flat connectors.
No "premium" sound option that I'm aware of, and the connector in AK' s second pic goes straight from the radio to the speakers.
Knight - I'm inclined to say that that ebay unit you linked will work. It's the same physically as the one in my '99 (stepped-down chassis) , and I'm 98% sure the connectors are the same; however, mine is a Lariat, and has the external 6-CD changer.
Not much help, I know.

Ohio...that is a premium head. Those connections are those of that system. Note the cooling shunt at the top. Those are already configured to fit the dash, but barely. The true solid squares (like the newer DD) still have to have modifications for the older dash inserts. 2003 may be a bit different for the insert, but with the standard radio heads, the pictures I posted, are correct for the plugs.
To the OP. That radio from eBay will work and fit your dash without any problems. It is the correct cut, but remember, that it is a single CD player, and not multi disc.
I have an 07 Escape Navigation/CD radio in my 98 F150. The wiring is the same and it gives you the use of navigation. The screen is small, in comparison to the 04 and up's but it is a nice radio for little cost to get navi. You can use an 06=07 Hybrid Escape radio, or 05 non Hybird and get the same results. Great sound out of this head, and of course the navigation part makes it quite useful. I used 6M6T-18K931-BC for my application. (this was my side job, installing factory navigation radios into 2000 and newer Fords. Like i said, it will even work in the 97-98's with a little dash reworking for the extra bulk). All my Fords, with exception of lil Red, all have navigation radios (factory). I have an Android head I'm putting into him. I've run out of factory navi heads, except for the 04's and up. I still have 3 of them.
I always thought the "premium" units had external amps like the old (80's/90's) systems. Nice to see Ford kept at least a few things standardized. I never realized you could mix and match so much.

I can mix and match a lot of Fords. I don't do anything with GM's or Mopars, only Fords. I have a pretty extensive lists of radios and what can be used to configure to certain applications. I have a Taurus navigation head in my Mustang (has all options turned on, including Sirius, but I don't use that feature). This gives me back up camera, phone options, or any item I want to plug into the USB porting. I added a 2012 Mustang steering wheel and made all my controls accessible from the steering wheel.
My Fusion has a fully operational head, from a later model Expedition. This one also has full capibilities turned on, so it can do about anything, all from the steering wheel controls.
