Default Ext. Cab or Crew Cab...?

Starting to look around for a new truck (want a bigger cab) and not sure whether to go with just an ext cab or crew cab. Only thing I dont like about the crew cab is the 5 1/2' bed but really like the 4 door cab. How do you guys like your crew cab? enough bed space? and do any of them come with a 5 spd?

And the ext cab, is the back seat comfortable to sit in?, cause it really looks crammed in the back.

go with the supercrew... the bed is plenty for me and most other ppl I would bet. also I have extended tailgate which makes the bed a little bigger.. but even without it the bed is enough.. go with the supercrew for sure imo.

Ok that was the only thing I was unsure of cause I usually dont haul all the time but have filled my 8ft bed now a few times. Is the supercrew a 4 door I havent seen any of those when I was lookin online?

if you do use your bed alot then maybe you should go with extended cab... now that I have a supercrew I couldn't ever own a f150 that isn't supercrew

I tow more than anything so I can just pull a trailor if I need more space. I only have a reg cab now and sounds like I wont know how to act with a bigger cab, itll be nice to have the extra room. Ive been looking online alot at these but Im trying to find a 97-03 with a 4.6 5 spd FX4. Do they have those in the supercrew? cause I havent found one yet.

If you tow a lot, your going to be spending quite a bit dropping a 5 speeds transmission and replacing the OE excuse Ford calls a clutch for something that will actually handle more than a 3400 lb trailer without smoking the clutch out. Ask me how I know.

Really? I havent any trouble with mine now and it has over 100k on it. Is it a diff clutch between V6/5 spd and the 4.6/5 spd?

Same clutch, same transmission. The clutch disk itself is the weak part (kevlar disk will more than double the capacity). However, mine got replaced with another OE (didn't want to wait for a South Bend Kevlar kit to take two weeks to be shipped for the same price) clutch all because the throwout went out at 95K miles. 10K miles later, that clutch was already warped due to pulling a 3100 trailer around through the mountains (under the specified weight limit for the clutch).

Damn thats ****ty. Im not sure if its a oe still in it or not. The truck I have now was a shop truck for where we use to work so it was always well taken care of and the clutch was replaced at like 110k. Thats good to know its the same trans. I was debating on rebuilding my truck now or use it as a parts truck when I get a new one, cause I dont really want to sink money into a reg cab.
