Default Exhaust system

I have a 2003 F-150 5.4 Fx4 and when i bought it it already had dual flowmasters on it. I don't really like the sound of them is the problem. They're not very loud or deep at all and don't give me the sound i want. I've looked around some different forums and others have said that this model f150 doesnt sound good with flowmasters. I wanna get my exhaust system redone but not sure what to go with. I want something deep and pretty loud when idling and hitting the gas but not obnoxious. I've listened to magnaflows on youtube and i like that sound. Any of you guys have magnaflow? Or another brand that sounds good. What about another series of flowmaster? Just wanting some input. Didnt know if any of yall have had this problem or not with flowmasters

It's probably the series you've got on it. Here's a video that Flowmaster did, showing sounds of 8 of their mufflers.

I am probably going to put one of these Thrush Welded mufflers on mine. I think it sounds awesome.

I was a Flowmaster guy for years on my Musclecar. I think that they make a quality product that sounds great. However I felt that every single car at the local cruise night sounded the same so I started doing research on a new, different sound.

That's when I discovered Spintech. I heard a Fox body 5.0 Mustang pull into a cruise night and his car sounded pretty cool so I asked him what he was running and he told me Spintech Pro Street mufflers. They sounded nasty and my feeling was if they sound this good behind a little 5.0, imagine how they'd sound behind a 500HP big block.

I'm running them on my 68 Chevelle convertible behind a set of Hooker headers and a 3" exhaust and they sound wicked.

If you decide to go magnaflow go with the shortest model available or it may be too quiet for you. I have one of their tru-x mufflers with the built in x-pipe and it is pretty quiet compared to their short ones but its exactly what I was looking for.

Is it quiet even when you get on the gas? Or just quiet compared to some others?

Only compared to the smaller mufflers. It has a great tone and makes some wonderful noise when I get on it but what I went with is a pretty large case with the purpose being quieter.

If your Flowmaster muffler is a single in/single out or a dual in/single out configuration, the part number of your muffler can be found on the outlet side of the muffler. If you have a single in/dual out or dual in/dual out Flowmaster muffler, the part number will be on the inlet side of the case. Once you locate the part number of your muffler, visit our website, www.flowmastermufflers.com, and enter your part number into the search bar to find out what series of Flowmaster muffler you have.

Depending on what muffler is currently in your truck, we likely have a muffler that will produce a deeper, louder sound. If you would like, you can also contact our tech line at 707-544-4761 with your current muffler's part numbers. That way, we can discuss the mufflers that you already have installed on the vehicle and assist you in selecting the parts needed to achieve the sound that you are looking for.
