Default Exhaust Manifold/ Header Problems

So after driving around for over a year with the exhaust manifold completely broken off from the exhaust pipe (the manifold to collector bolts had completely rusted off) i finally decided throw some headers on my 97 4.6 f-150. So i began the teardown and things just went from bad to worse when after i started i found that the egr tube had completed rusted away from the manifold and then upon trying to remove the oil dipstick tube and having it break off flush with the block, not to mention having a rusty brake line crumble in my hand, i realized this was going to be a pain in the a**. I ended up getting the rest of the dipstick tube out with an ez-out and ordered a new egr tube and dipstick tube from the dealer. I got both headers on while i waiting for my parts to arrive. They arrived today and i went to install the egr tube only to realize that i was missing one small piece, the egr fitting that apparenly threads into the manifold then the egr tube threads onto that. I have been searching for this part online with no luck and was wondering if anyone could help me find this fitting or a suitable replacement as the headers i purchased relied on me reusing this piece from the old manifold. Obviously the manifolds were too rusty to salvage anything off of them. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated. And as for all the rust i could only assume all the hunting trips up in northern canada couldnt have been good for it.

Are you talking about this little threaded fitting in this picture?

Yes that is it. I couldnt even find a picture of it online. My old one is rusted into the manifold, the threads on it are gone.

I've only been able to find it at Rock Auto but you have to buy the whole left exhaust manifold and with it comes the hardware including that fitting which is where I got the picture from. Go Here to rockauto and go to part number search tab and then put in this part number and it will bring up the manifold + hardware. 674407

I'll keep looking around for the part for you and let you know if I can manage to scrape one up somewhere .

Edit: I would also recommend hitting up some local salvage yards it might be your best bet. It seems they just do not sell this part by itself but I'll keep looking.

It looks like a gas line compression fitting you can by at any local hardware store... It would be called a union or a coupler... Nothing special I see about it!

Thanks for the help, yeah it looks like id have to order the whole manifold to get that piece and since i already bought the headers and have them on i cant justify spending that much on just a fitting. I was wondering if i couldnt just use a hardware store fitting but i wasnt sure if there was something special about the taper on that fitting that might make a different fitting not seal.

So i spent all weekend looking for the fitting i need, with no luck. Junk yard wasnt open and the closest thing the hardware stores had was a 5/8 flare union which threads in but gets tight, so it looks like the fitting im looking for is metric. Couldnt seem to find anything metric anywhere. I might have to just bite the bullet and order the 120 dollar manifold kit just for a fitting, man does that idea suck. just figure i would post one more time to see if anyone else had any ideas
