Default Exhaust Help and Work

I was wondering what I could do to get a more aggressive sound from my truck. Ive got the stock exhaust with no mufflers and the pipes exiting the right side of my truck in front of the tire. I have like 4 catalytic converters and was wondering if I could get rid of them or add a muffler or anything.

Thanks for help.

I'd say go with a Dynomax bullet, a Borla XR-1, or 11"/14" Magnaflow. This will give a deeper, more aggressive growl. Then if you want more sound after that the rear cats can be deleted fairly easily.

How would you gut the cats while still on the truck?

Why would you want to gut the cats? Gutting kills velocity, in turn worse performance. You only need two if you have visual inspection. Fully deleting the back two is a much better option.

I agree with Otto, it's much better sounding to just cut off the back cats and replace with pipe. Sounds amazing. I've had many compliments on my exhaust.

So you think I will be fine with Inspection test if I remove the back 2 cats, and then see how it sounds from there? Do you have a video of what your truck sounds like

^ Ask your local check stations and check your local laws. Most areas two cats suffice. I'd say switch out to mufflers first and then get into the cats if you want more sound. Once you start chopping cats there's no going back.

If I had a decent recording device I would upload a sound clip, but unfortunately your just gonna have to take my word for it, but there is no going back once you cut them off, and 2 cats is fine, you will easily pass.

i want to gut them because they are plugged i think and because i need some back pressure because its straight piped 2.5'' pipe out to a 3 1/2'' tip in front of the pass side rear tire..

It's a pretty easy test to see if they are plugged with a pressure gauge in the O2 bung. Get it checked before changing the cats because of a guess they're bad. Need some backpressure?? (Please read the link) You need to maintain enough pipe for scavenging to occur. You're maintaining enough velocity with the 2.5" pipe there's no need to kill it with a gutting of the cat. If you must replace it with pipe.
