Default Exhaust

Hey, I have a 98 f150, ext cab short bed 4x4. When I bought it, I didnt have the time or money to put an exhaust on it so I cut the muffler off and put a stright pipe on it and it actually sounds very nice. Now that I saved up, I want to put dual exhaust on it. My dad owns an auto body and auto repair shop so I was gunna kind of peice together one since I dont have a ton of money. I can get dual tail pipes that r stainless for like 80 bucks with a y pipe right after the cat. My question is, is should I just do dual striaght pipes, or should I put mufflers on it. If so wat kind of mufflers? I want it to sound good, have a nice tone and so I can hear it even if I dont get on it. Thanks in advance.
