Thanks J, I'll do that. My truck turned 16 this last month and it's going in for a "Rustcheck" coating next week. My Christmas present this year would be to get that new engine in and running perfectly.

I knew it, the swap wasn't as cut and dried as I'd been lead to believe by others on a different website. Thanks, Jbrew, I'll contact and advise on my swaps flexplate.

Just wondering how your doing with the engine swap? I'm ready to swap a 2003 F250 5.4 into my 2003 F150 SC. Any help would be appreciated

Well, I've been taking care of my elderly mother who's been in and out of the hospital and rehab centers in her final years. The only thing I've accomplished is ordering the parts I've needed for the newer engine. I've got to check and see if the salvage engine came with a flywheel, if not, I'll have to get one. Life "is" what happens when you make plans. I'd like to somehow get the time to do it but she needs more and more care. I'm a 24/7/365 son & caregiver caring for Mom, the house, property, bills paperwork, and vehicles. I just reread the thread last night, it's been a while since I took a gander at it. Besides that we got hit with 2 basement floods that couldn't have happened at worse times. I'll give an update when the project gets rolling again, soon I hope. The old 5.4L is still holding on with a loud exhaust manifold leak, a bad COP, and just a week ago a down stream 02 sensor that went bad. In between all of this, I say my prayers and try and find time to sleep.

I understand your situation, my wife had major back surgery and for a year I did everything. I just haven't gotten much response from others on this site about questions I'm looking for answers to. If the F150 and F250 have the same flywheel, I'll have an extra you can have for cost of shipping.

Well, that's quite generous of you. I'll have to check it out as soon as I get time. A very kind gesture indeed! Thanks for the offer, I'll let you know in a PM.

I got a chance today to unwrap the engine on the pallet, it did come with the OE flywheel, but I'll still keep you in mind if I find anything wrong with it. Thanks.

I pulled the pan and inspected all the rod bearings on my replacement engine, now need to do a cylinder leak down test. Hopefully I can get my old engine out this weekend.

Did a leak down test on all cylinders today. most around 12%, one at 18% and one at 20%. Hooked up air line direct to each cylinder and rolled the engine over with 160 psi and "blew" any debris out of each cylinder, after that, all "leaked" around 12%. Then I started in on my version of a remote filter. I gathered up the necessary parts at my local "pull-n-save", then modified it to take -10 AN fittings and Teflon lined, steel braided hose. Hopefully will drop it in tomorrow.
