Hi all...my 4.6 triton is burning some oil and has a pretty good lifter knock...I'm looking into getting a new motor to put in and kinda want to build it up. Should I go with another 4.6 and get a turbo or supercharger kit? Or should I build a302 or 351? Thinking cam carb valve springs or maybe stroker...anything at this point is on the table...money is fairly tight so I want to know what the best option anyone can come up with would be

For the Money i wouldnt go backwards to push rods i would stick with the 4.6, and a get low mileage example out of a junkyard, pull the Heads and work them. the 4.6 despite what some say is a damn good motor and they respond to head work and cams really well.
If you plan to take heads to a machine shop, for the love of god do research and find a shop that has Ford motor experience. I have seen more than one shop that did chevy race motors completely screw up a good ford engine with their bowtie blinders on.
It may be simple work but all it takes is inexperience to ruin expensive parts.
when i built my 347 for my 82 stang, the guy doing the work on my gt40P's assigned the task to another guy and my heads ended up having to use chevy size valve guide seals because he said he messed up and thought they were chevy heads. Minor issue but it took me some extra work and fuel chasing down the right seals. (if only he would have messed up and had to buy me bigger valves haha)
