Default Engine swap

I have and 02 f150 with the 4.2 v6 and I'm wanting to either rebuild the motor has 130k and is starting to leak oil possibly burning it as well. So my options are to rebuild the v6 I got or find me a v8 to put in it. I'm wanting more power and not sure if I can get enough from the v6. So my question is what all do I have to switch to go from the v6 to v8 and will the 5.4 mount up to the transmission I have in my trick or will I have to get a new trans. Will the 4.8 mount up w the trans I have as well. Thanks for the help in advance guys.

Looks like on eBay u can get the whole motor for about 1k w all the headers and everything. So it would cost about the same as the rebuild. And I know I need the computer for it. Just dunno what else I need to make her tick. That or rebuild my v6 and drop a bunch of money and put a new cam and everything in it. If I can find one.

yah but your also paying 1k for a motor that could be junk. allot of people are crooks just trying to make a quick buck. i know it would suck if you paid a grand for a motor that burned 1 qt of oil ever 100 miles. just somting to think about. id rather buy a motor from a truck you could hear run. then pull it out

Yeah. I know. Either way I'm prolly gonna have to rebuild the motor I get just don't know if I can get enough out of the 4.2.
