Default Engine Bay Cleaning!

Hey all! I am going to be cleaning my engine bay here soon, and I was just wondering the best way to do so. I have the 4.2, so I don't want to damage my coil pack or anything like that.
Basically, what is the safest, best way for me to do this, and what do I need to cover, or shield while I do so?
Thanks!

safest way I can think of is cleaner and a rag no water.

If you need water use a squirt bottle an old brush and a junk towel/rag lmao I've never even cleaned a engine bay just going by what my dad has told me in the past.

This sounds dumb but where exactly is the coil pack? I always just cover the alternator with a bag and use a APC cleaner and a power washer. Then apply a dressing, never had a problem. Do it once a month

To be 100 percent honest, I'm not sure... I just saw the dangers of ruining it while washing while I was browsing this forum... I washed it today, and I just wrapped all electrical connections with Saran Wrap, then decreased it, and scrubbed, then hosed off with a jet stream nozzle... All is well, and it looks SO much nicer!

I just give everything a light spray down with a bottle of simple green when needed. Use a rag and clean it by hand. Whenever I'm under the hood, I give everything a quick wipe down. It adds 5 minutes to my project, but I never have to do a big clean, because it's always relatively clean...unless I go playing in the mud.
