Default Ebay CAI

just ordered a ebay CAI for about $100 shipped, its identical to the brute force CAI with a 4" tube and heat shield, anyone on here using a CAI like this? are they any good?

also thinking about the BBK 75mm throttle body, are they a good investment?

In my opinion, no for both of them. I have yet to see any actual numbers saying they are an improvement over the stock setup.

The CAI will give you a better throttle response and MAYBE +1 mpg but you not going to notice a gain in power.

Actually yes cai's and throttle bodys are good investments(i have both) especially if you got the intake for 100. Its not going to be a night and day difference but when you step on the gas youll definitely feel the difference and where your money went, especially at WOT.

They are good investments. You can't add one or two things and expect to see huge results though. It's a combination of things that give results. Throttle body is a great investment, but you also have to port the intake elbow behind it that way more air can be sent through. Can't have a bigger tb and the same restrictive tubing. To show noticeable results is going to require work. But the CAI and tb are a good place to begin. Look into a programmer to help with the tuning due to the increased air flow.

I already have hedders and exhaust, the intake is next, then the throttle body (thanks for the tip on porting the elbow) and a E-fan setup followed by under drive pulleys, I will be picking up a programmer somewhere in between all of that, I have been working with old windsor motors for a long time but this mod motor is something new to me, I dont expect much from these mods, just a little more umph and better MPG

Well with what you have done already and what you plan to do i think the
Intake an throttle body are both good ideas. I forgot about the Efan but def do that too. You won't see a whole lot of hp increase but I'd say between 20 to 30.

im not a dreamer, ive been around motors too long to know a intake wont give me 20 HP lol, making power is expensive, 20-30 is fine with me, make it a little easier to get around someone on the highway and gain some MPG would fufill all my expectations

Agreed that making power is expensive. Lol and anyone who believes that an intake alone will give 20 hp is crazy. Lol but like I said, with the CAI, ported elbow, 75mm tb, programmer, exhaust, and Efan, you have just about every bolt on useful mod there is. You will def get better mpg and acceleration. I'm guessing all that done, 3 mpg increase.

I have a airaid cai and bigger throttle body, diablo sport preditor and full exhaust with 3.73 gears and 33" tires and I get 17.9 m.p.g on the hy way with my 99 f250 LD 4x4 5.4

I'm thinking of trying one of these eBay cai for my "new" 99 f150 4x4 4.6.
Do you have a link to the exact one your looking at 027lug?
