Ok so I know it's been said on here many times how our engines are picky about the spark plugs they use and I personally bought the motorcrafts for mine just haven't installed them yet. Here's the ? On the powerblock half price raptor project this weekend they got to work on the engine upgrade and used accel coils and e-3 plugs is this going to work for their motor because its supercharged or are they a good alternative for our non sc motors?

 

E3 plugs are bad news. Used them once in a chevy small block and they literally melted. They probably got paid to say they used them.

 

I will 2nd that I uesd them in my 07 Wrangler had 2 out of 6 fail in 6000 miles including one where the ground electrode fell off and got digestd by my engine I dont see any sighns of engine damage but it cant be good to feed it small metal parts. Never again total junk. Oh and while they were in there I noticed NO improvment in perfomance or milage.

 

Bosch Iridiums are another acceptable plug for these trucks. My '02 KR just threw a plug. Did the fix and put new Boschs all the way around. No issues.

 

I would be worried about the Bosch, a friend of mine put the platinum +4 in his escort and had one come apart like Bubba's E3 did and it destroyed the engine.
But I'm glad this was posted, I was just thinking about getting E3s and putting them in my 4.6. Glad that was posted, I would hate to destroy the engine before I even had it week.

 

Hi I heard that four cylinders have problems with some of those high tech plugs.

 

Stick with NGK iridium IX or Motorcraft. I have had troiuble from everything from E3's to Bosch's. Only ones who seem to run the best and last the longest are Motorcrafts, and NGK iridiums.
