Default The Drama Continues....

Hated the running boards that were on my truck when I got it. (should be a pic on profile) Ordered a set of Trail FX nerf bars 304 Stainless from got-chrome.com Feb. Finally got around to the install this week. After alot of thought of trying to salvage the old ones, I had to cut them off. Alot cleaner look I must say. So I start the install on the nerf bars as per instructions. Go to put the bars on the brackets and the bar is about an inch to long. I spread the brackets out as far as they would go thinking I may have moved them and still no go. I even went as far as to notch the holes in my truck to allow them to slide and still didn't get it enough. I could have cut enough to do it but it was going to leave a huge gap and these were supposed to be direct bolt ons. Anyway, the instructions stated to notify the manufacture if there was a problem. I did and they said to contact the seller. I notified gotchrome and they told me all customer service of this nature must be conducted by email. I've submitted an email with the same pics I've attached here. 1. to show the problem 2. to show the brackets are installed properly. I'm in hurry up and wait but it to no end. Now I have to ship these back and wait for new ones. If the new ones are the same as these, my temper can't handle much more. I'm debating of just taking the brackets to a machine shop and having slots cut in 2 of them instead of single holes. It would allow me to slide them back where need be but I shouldn't have to pay another dime for the company's poor craftsmanship.

In the bottom pic you can see how much I notched it out already. That's begging for rust. I could fill it in with blow foam but this shouldn't have been necessary

I received this email
Nick,

Looks like you have the correct parts, so you probably have a bracket out of position. The truck has multiple mounting positions for the bars. When you get the right bracket in the correct mounting hole the bars will line up perfectly.

If you are still having trouble installing, please send us a picture of the entire cab and stepbar held up in place.

Thanks,
Got-Chrome Customer Service

There are 3 drain plugs one behind the front tire, one in front of the rear tire and one centered between those.....geez

I just installed a set of bars, on my truck. They are EFX stainless. The kit looks very much like your's. I didn't have any issues with fit and thought it was easier, than it looked to be.

Old ones.

New ones.

I bought the EFX as well. Followed the instructions to the letter and had the same problem. Can't remember if it was front to back or flipping them around but we messed with moving the brackets around and they bolted right up. Instructions were wrong.

That's what it was. The rear brackets had 2 sets of holes and each side used a different set. Instructions mentioned none of this. Company sent a pdf file that was useless. Finally after a irritating day, I'm done. I'll up my pics later gotta take my son to the dr.

Here they are finally on the truck. Anyone know how to remove 10 years worth of oxidation from the vent visors?

Start by taking the ugly ones off the king cab windows....then take some plastix from autozone and polish the ones around the windows...
And while your at it sell that bed cover then put meats on your wheels
