FWIW, Mine has had a plastic one on it for about 4 years now, with no issues. When I was having my issue, I searched around and saw that most, even Motorcraft, are switching to plastic. My Buddy actually sent me an aluminum one, brand new by Ford Parts, that I've just been keeping around. Plus, I am 99.9% sure there is nothing wrong with my original that I still have.
Yea, that's what I thought. I still have my original as well, -made it serviceable by replacing the rivets w/machine screws lol. It still works as well, but I use the metal one purchased from Tomco, it looks better
BTW, - surprised I didn't post in that thread were you clipped that from. Think I have something like 25,000 posts at that site lol. Haven't participated there in years though.
Correct me if I am wrong but I once read the reason Ford changed to plastic for the DPFE was because of internal corrosion in the sensor from the exhaust. On the other hand my truck had over 200,000 miles before any code appeared for that!!
I wouldn't doubt it, they do corrode up inside with that white rust. Yea I haven't heard of anyone running a plastic sensor vs metal (if that was their original) having any kind of problem.
I do recall problems with knock off sensors in the past. Don't see that many DPFE threads anymore come to think of it.
