You can't really prevent rust unless you cut it out and weld a new piece of metal in. For the issue with the rust on the inside of the doors, just do the best you can to prevent it. Worse comes to worse you get used doors.

Just had my 02 in the body shop for 4 days. Had all 4 doors and tailgate removed. They peeled back outer skins, grind out all the rust, sandblast and repaint. Cost me a $1100 but well worth it, truck is mint with 60 k on it.

Default 2013 FX4 Door Rust

Came across this thread while looking for information about rust on F-150s from Canada. I'm looking at a 2013 FX4 w/ 41K miles that came from Ontario and is now in Cincinnati. Since I'm a few states away I asked for additional photos showing any dents/scratches/etc not visible in the listing photos. The two photos attached show what looks like could be a little rust on the bottom inside of the doors. Does this look like normal wear and tear or cause for concern? Photos of the chassis all look good. Thanks

have you tried cleaning it.. That doesn't really look like rust. More of mud or something of that sort

No unfortunately I can't see it in person since the vehicle is ~1,200 miles away. I agree the passenger door doesn't look that bad but it was the drive side that appeared to have rust closer to the door hinges and along the bottom. I can live with it either way more just want to try and get an idea of what I might be getting myself into for repair costs down the road if it gets worse.

I've asked the person at the dealership I'm working with to send me a video of it, hopefully that will shed some more light on what exactly it is.

Thanks for the quick reply

I am guessing it has everything you want on considering it is that far away? If you second guess anything I personally would wait for one to appear closer within a few hundred miles so you can see it for yourself.
