Default door not opening...

I have a 2001 f150 crewcab and my drive side side (small door) does not want to open. Any advice?

I think I'll be watching this thread... The same door on my '99 still opens, but sometimes I have to pull the handle 2 or 3 times before it does... I tried some lithium grease on the latch assembly, didn't seem to help

You most llikly need new cables for the laches. I just replaced both upper latches on driver and passenger side. They aren't made to last. theres a plastic sleave that slide into a mount, that broke on both my rear doors. Bought them new and still don't expect them to last long the way they are made. Most of the Extended cabs I looked at when I was buying my truck,Had rear doors that were not working. Not a hard job to do but pricy.

Is there a DIY on how to do this job? How much did u spend on this?
It sucks when something breaks on your vehicle when u realize how much u use it.

Same thing happened to mine a couple of months ago..but where they used plastic ties, I'd suggest using metal wiring..I did and it's still holding up.

Thanks for the great info. I'll take a stab at it this weekend.
Thanks again.

I am in the same current situation with my passenger rear door. I'm going to try and fix it tomorrow. I already have the door apart ready to go.

I think it was about $100 for both left and right top latch cables. It not to hard to do. The hardest part is fishing the cable down the door. After I fought with the first side,I unhooked the 3 star head screws from the latch on the top of door. Then I cut the cable from the latch at the top and electric tapped the new cable to the cut peice and pulled it threw. were the plastic sleeve slides into the metal slot on the cable side. I wire tied it so it would not slip out. They have plastic clips but the old ones on mine were broke so I reenforced it with wire ties. The second side took a 1/4 of the time to do. Good luck.
