Default Door locks

I have a 2000 xlt and when we had a couple days of -0 days, when I went to unlock my doors, the key would go in but not turn. I had to play with it for 5-10 min then it worked fine. Anyone know what might have caused it? Could it be the security feature acting up because it was so cold?
It sucked having to screw with it in the frigid weather. Thanks!

No. I doubt highly that the alarm system messed with it. May have just been stuck from the cold, so you should be fine. Unless you get another cold spell! With you having an XLT, I'd be surprised if you didn't have remote entry actually.

Get some WD40 and keep it around. If it ever locks up spray some in the lock and run the key in and out a few times fast to get it on the tumblers. The cold weather probably just got a tumbler stuck

I do have remote entry but it doesn't pop my locks all the way. I think I need new motors for them. And it was both side locks that wouldn't turn, I doubt they were froze, maybe. Thanks

Oh sorry it doesn't have an alarm just the anti theft system. I thought maybe that had something to do with the locks. after I messed with it for awhile it was turning smooth like nothing happened. It just sucked being so cold LOL

I figure you don't use the passenger side a lot and when it just sits there, the tumblers get stuck cause the lubricant dries up. I'd be willing to bet WD40 will fix it, this coming from a locksmith

Yeah really any kind of grease. Even graphite but that gets messy sometimes and will turn your key black and rub off in your pockets/hands. So preferably liquid lubricant. If it starts doing it again let me know and i'll see what else i can tell you.

But I'm pretty sure it's not electrical. The door lock it self is not hooked up to anything but a metal rod that attaches to the pop-up indicator.
