Default Door compatibility ?

I just purchased a 98 F150 and it has a bad dent on the drivers side door so I want to swap in a new door but I'm not sure what years/models are compatible. The one I have is an XLT. Attached is a picture of my new truck. Thanks in advance! I look forward to being a part of the forum.

any door from 97' to 03'. The shell is universal for those years, just the guts and trimmings change

Ok so that's another question I have. The window motor is going out I think. It barely will roll up after it rolls down. Is this common?

Do any other Ford models have the same doors? Like the expedition?

No. Any regular cab or super cab door will work. Supercrew doors are the same as Expeditions, and neither will work on regular cabs or super cabs.

I am always seeing F150 doors on craigslist for cheap around here.

Actuallly 97/98 are doors are unique in where the mounting points are for certain things. Such as the door handle, the window track. A newer door will physically bolt up but you will play hell trying to get the door panel back on.

I did not know that (I had heard that early '97 trucks had some oddities with the doors, did not know it was the whole '97-98 production).

So if they get a door from say a 2001 and the interior color is the same, it should work since they are not moving any panels?

So basically if I get a door from 99-03 it would be easiest to use a door panel from those same years?
