Would it be possible/safe to remove the evap canister from my truck and run it?
As you can see, the mount is completely rusted out and it's now held on with zip ties.
Thanks
Can you run without it? Yes
Should you run without it? Your choice. You'll get a check engine light the second you unplug the electrical connection. And your truck will smell like gas fumes when it gets hot as the gas vapor will find a way out. And you might lose some mileage, (I noticed a drop in mine when I took it out.) But other than that, you're good to go.
P.s. Your axle breather tube goes in the hole 6" to the left. If you want to put it back where it came from. Assume the little tabs that hold it in aren't broken off.

The previous owner disconnected it, so it's been throwing the code since I got it.
Am I right to assume I can run a vent line from the tank to deal with some of the fumes?

I ran a filter, but you'll still get the gas smell (wasn't to bad for me) that's the sole purpose of the charcoal canister, to filter out the fumes, to make it more economically friendly...
