First off, I would try to buffer out as many of the smaller scratches as possible. Then when thats done, I would try taking it to maaco if you have one near you. I scratch the entire side of my truck off roading and had deep scratches like yours. They repaired them for only $250. If thats too much, try paint matching with touch up auto paint. Nothing out of a can though.
And if thats not possible, I would do some vinyl work

There was no mention of how he handled the situation other than worry about his truck, the mailbox was stationary so it has to be driver error whether accident or weather related. The mailbox belongs to somebody and by the looks of the damages to the truck it wasn't a cheap little stand-alone so if it belonged to one of us, we would be bashing the person causing the damage.
Pull out your man card and get it resolved before the police get involved, leaving the scene of an accident can get pretty costly.
Those of you that think this is bashing somebody, ask your parents how they would feel if there property were damaged and they got stuck paying to get it fixed.

I kno where your comeing from home damage isn't cheap even if it is a brick mailbox or something else
His best option is to go to the owner tell him he did it and that he will pay for the damage even if its through payments or through insurance

First off, y'all who think you're cool because you'd just leave it, I was raised better. It was 1am so I didn't try to go to the door. I left a note but haven't heard back. I believe the house is empty and for sale. If that is the case, I will go and repair the mailbox myself tomorrow or Saturday. I was raised to do the right thing even it is detrimental to me. With that said, I don't want to pay a bunch of money to a body shop because until I grow up some and stop driving the thing through the woods, it's gonna get more scratches. I just don't want it to rust. What's the chances of being able to find the manufacturer color and touch it up myself or having someone mix it for me? To those of you offering helpful advice, or even the funny tips such as plastidip, I appreciate it, I've thought of the same thing. What about a stripe across the back of the hood and wrap it around run it down both sides.

Umm is that the factory color if so can't you check on the door sticker for the paint code?

reading through this thread is funny... but here's my honest opinion. If it were me? I would tape off the worst areas, get out my sandpaper and filler, and try to do as much work as I can myself. I'd spend the money on a good paint guy to match and mix the paint on the truck and account for any fading which has affected the tint of the orig. factory color. and then shoot it and clearcoat it myself. If I know it's going to get more scratches when offroading, i'm sure I wouldn't be expecting it to look like a cherry job. I just prefer to try it myself... and if in the end it looks completely awful, well then i'd put some money in it and go the prof. way. But things i've tried on my own seem to come out pretty ok... see what happens? what's the worse? it could look worse than it does now?
