disappearing odometer

Question disappearing odometer

my 99 odometer turns on and off, do you know how to fix it.

buddies 00 does this...smack the dash and it comes back on lol

X2. Mine goes on and off all the time. I look a little weird when people see me smack my dash. I just tell em it's a ford thing

its only a simple fix if you know how to so solder if i remember correctly because i wanted to fix mine until i realized you had to solder to fix it....

You don't really have to know how to solder. Just have a soldering gun and touch it to the spot, that pretty much does it, it liquifies the solder which eliminates the crack when it hardens back

Theres a thread on this that had pics and everything how a guy fixed it. Basically you take the dash out and solder a point and it's fixed

Bingo! It's referred to as a "Cold Solder Joint." Basically, you're re-melting the solder to better connect the solder to the PCB board. If you don't have one, get a soldering iron (35 Watt) from Radio Shack for around $25 or so. And it'll come in handy for other jobs, too!
