Question dipstick help

I have a 2003 ford F150 5.4 2 valve.

I am having trouble installing the dipstick.

Without going into a long long story about how and why..

could someone grace me with a picture of how the dipstick is suppose to look when mounted on the side of the engine?

I know it goes in the middle of the exhaust manifold.

Does the dipstick go between the motor mount and the engine?

Or on the outside of the motor mount?

I've replaced 3 of them on the 5four....they rust out in the snow belt. I don't recall either of them intersecting with the motor mount. Behind the manifold yes. They can go easy or you may have a hell of a time getting it perfect. The last one I removed the manifold to get it just right.

Mine has a piece of metal permanently attached to the dipstick with a hole in it which is bolted to the side of the motor. There's only one way for it to fit.
Doesn't yours have that piece of metal?

They all have the one bolt - 6mm w/8mm hex.. That's generally not the problem, you can get the bolt/flange hole to line up after threading the body through the intake hole and seating the o-ring. Some of the new ones aren't bent correctly when you receive them. It can more difficult than one might think getting the bend exactly right in order to seat that ring right..

thanks guys, looks like i messed it up. I somehow managed to get the dipstick between the motor mount and the engine.

I didn't think it went that way, but it's what seemed to fit the easiest.

guess I'll be fixing it.

thanks.
