Default Dim headlights

I noticed a couple days ago that my headlights get a little brighter when I push down the gas pedal and dim just a bit at idle. I've never noticed that before. Is that normal, or is that a sign of a weak battery? My battery is about 3 years old, and I changed my alternator about a month and a half ago.

Go by an auto parts store most do free batt and alt testing it could be one of those. If not check connections. Does it start fine? And are they stock lights?

When you start your truck, do the gauges sweep to max and come back to 0? That's usually a sign of a weak battery on our trucks.

Maybe you got a smaller alternator. My truck had a 120 amp and Im using what i think is a 90 amp now until I can get my 120 rebuilt and my truck does the same thing. But I also did pull the smaller one out of a salvage yard so the one Im using may be going bad also. And my battery is almost a year old.

That may be it. I didn't even check the amps on my new alternator. I just pickup up a rebuilt on from carquest.

Yeah, they sweep to max and reset to 0. It's not a big deal. I'm moving from Cali to Detroit here in a couple months. Going from a warm weather state to a snow belt state it might be a good idea to replace the batt anyway. I'm thinking about getting a Optima, but I don't remember if I should get the red or yellow one. Any idea?
