Died while driving....
800 is still overpriced today IMO. Diagnosing is quick, so getting that tank down and splayed open on the floor. Draining is quick, if you know quick anyway. Prep for new is even quick. Guess I could see 200 in labor, before material cost. Yea 800 was the bend over price, closing in on 100% markup IMO. Actually it was more like 850 close to a decade ago.
What sort of sucks for us, Ford labor and warranty charges although different set a presidency for third party shops since this info is easily had online. Better shops set prices according to actual hours worked and slight up charge on parts already figured, -to be expected. Others on the other hand charge according to documentation available. It's how it works not just in auto for pretty much everything. Wacked price, Fair price and my favorite, the cash price lol. Entertaining that last one can be very worth the effort..surprisingly so if you don't have the time or resources available.
I expect most know this. So, - posted up more-less for the youngins who haven't figured that out hard yet. Doesn't take long though and much easier avoided, - specially if frequenting sites such as this for vehicle specific info...very wise. A crash course in learning can be priceless for those struggling to keep afloat.
Anyway, hope you were treated fairly Miggy.
So why the heck did starting fluid not work? You said it's worked before.
JBrew, is it possible that if the pump had a short or otherwise failed electronics, then the computer wouldn't or couldn't let the ignition system work?
